Code of Conduct
What makes the room work · Emailed to every attendee on booking
Cerno Society is an intellectual third space, open to everyone curious enough to show up. That openness only works if the room stays safe and respectful, and that is what this Code is for. It is part of the experience, not paperwork. By attending, you agree to the following.
We expect everyone to
-
Engage with ideas generously, and challenge arguments rather than people.
-
Make space for quieter voices, and listen as much as you speak.
-
Treat every attendee with respect, regardless of background, belief, race, gender, sexuality, or how much they have read.
-
Keep what is shared in confidence in the room.
We will not accept
-
Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or any behaviour that makes others unwelcome.
-
Dominating discussion, condescension, or intellectual gatekeeping.
-
Recording or photographing others without their consent.
If something goes wrong
Tell a host. We take every concern seriously and will act, up to and including asking someone to leave. This is how we keep the door open for everyone.
